There is no doubt that Rocksteady and WB Games Montreal’s Arkhamverse is seminal, but Gotham Knights is stamping its own mark on the DC mythology. This applies to Gotham Knights’ protagonists, co-op features, and also its Batcycle mechanics, which should not need to compete with Batman: Arkham Knight’s Batmobile....
The basic synopsis is that Batman and his partner-in-law James Gordon (also Commissioner for the G.C.P.D.) are dead. With new criminal threats surfacing and terrorizing the city, a new band of heroes come together to restore the law. The focus this time around is on the Court of Owls - a shadowy criminal organization known to kidnap individuals. They turn victims into mind-controlled assassins known as the Talons. Our heroes - namely Red Hood, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Robin - must fight both the Owls as well as the other criminal entities lurking around Gotham....
Batman: Gotham Knights - Gilded City will release alongside the game in October 2022. It will have six issues, releasing monthly, that tell fans the story leading up to the events of Gotham Knights. While some details are already known about the game’s premise, including the death of Batman, Gilded City will go into further detail around the events leading up to the Caped Crusader dying, along with the threat that Gotham will face in his absence....
