For the uninitiated, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is a compilation of PS2 remasters that aims to “improve” the experience of Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. However, since it debuted on consoles and PC on November 11, the collection has been the subject of controversy thanks to numerous predominant technical and graphical glitches, plus the removal of features like GTA San Andreas’s co-op mode.

Now, to supplement the ever-growing laundry list of blunders that the developers need to patch out in their promised upcoming updates for the GTA Trilogy, gamers have noticed that spelling mistakes plague the various storefronts that decorated the corners of Liberty City.

This glaring blemish in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition was brought to the attention of gamers on the GTA subreddit, where the mistake was immediately yet understandibly mocked and scorned by fans. Although not present in the original 2001 incarnation of Grand Theft Auto 3, fans expressed their displeasure at the many errors that riddle the Deli and Pizza shop, such as “soups” being spelt as “sops,” and that “expresso” is now “depresso.”

Frequent amateur slip-ups like this have disappointed veteran fans of the franchise, all of whom hoped that the remaster would in-fact improve upon the outdated graphics of the original game. With this in mind, it comes as no surprise that the PC version of the GTA Trilogy has been hounded with negative user reviews on sites such as Metacritic, with the collection scoring a 0.6 on said site, while the PS5 version is towering at an astonishing 0.9 score.

In summary, the faults and creases that now mark the games have led to a very mixed reaction to the GTA Trilogy. Having said that, not all the additions in the remaster are deplorable, with advancements like more detailed environments and buildings have been met with much acclaim.

Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
