For the uninitiated, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is a remastered assemblage that aims to improve the experience of three defining PS2-era Rockstar titles: Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas. Although GTA Trilogy additions such as updated scenic environments plus increased draw distance sound like a dream come true, a significant number of problematic errors and slip-ups resulted in the trilogy being a nostalgic nightmare for many fans. With all this in mind, it’s no surprise that the games have been met with negative user reviews on sites like Metacritic.

To supplement the ever-growing laundry list of features in the trilogy that fans seem to disfavor, gamers have found distorted images of weapons from Grand Theft Auto 5 in GTA: San Andreas - Definitive Edition. The post created by Reddit user ParsnipEcstatic9013 shows CJ standing outside an Ammu-Nation in San Fierro looking at the foreign yet familiar guns in the window. More specifically, the “Military Rifle,” “Assault Rifle MK2,” and the “Heavy Shotgun” are plastered all over the store window, including a cut “Assault” sniper rifle.
After the post made the rounds, replies to the image debated whether it was a lackadaisical effort in the trilogy to save time developing new textures or a reference to Rockstar’s other work like how Michael’s Jacket from GTA 5 is in Vice City. After all, fans are still discovering new Easter eggs in the collection even a month after release. With that said, the consensus seems to fall under the prior, as all the weapons are comically large, with the “Military Rifle” and the “Heavy Shotgun” unrealistically towering CJ in height.
Seemingly careless features like this have ultimately hurt the re-release of these once industry-defining games. Despite that, it should come as some relief to fans that Rockstar Games has updated the GTA Trilogy with patches meaning CJ’s adventures in San Andreas should run a little smoother. Although, one can only hope the developers remake most of the incorrect in-game textures for immersion’s sake.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
