One of the most celebrated titles in the series is GTA: San Andreas, which sees protagonist CJ trying to put his life back together after finally returning home to Los Santos. CJ’s group, the Grove Street Families, plays an important role throughout Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and one person brought an element of theirs into the real world.

Reddit user and GTA: San Andreas fan WadieXkiller logged on to share an image of a real-life Grove Street tag that they found. Unfortunately, WadieXkiller didn’t express where exactly they found the tag, though they seem surprised to have seen it in-person. The tag is almost completely spot-on to the tags that are seen in the game, spelling out “GROVE -STR 4 LIFE” just as they do in the game. The only real issue that fellow fans pointed out with the tag is that it was made with black paint instead of green paint. Green is the trademark color of the Grove Street gang, not only being used for the tags but also being the color most of the members wear.
Anyone who has spent much time playing GTA: San Andreas will surely remember the Grove Street tags in-game. After being introduced in the story mission Tagging Up Turf, CJ is able to paint over enemy groups’ tags with that of Grove Street Families, where the text looks nearly identical to this real-world take on the tag. There’s 100 of them that need to be set up in the game, so players who strive for 100% completion in GTA: San Andreas would surely recognize this tag in real life. It would surely cause most players to do a double-take, as it seems that WadieXkiller did when finding and photographing it.
Many people were upset with the handling of GTA: San Andreas in the recent GTA Definitive Edition, pointing out numerous flaws with both the visuals as well as the gameplay. It’s unfortunate, since it’s clear between the internet outcries and real-life references like this that fans still adore the game and the story it tells. Rockstar Games has since patched the most egregious issues with the game, but many still aren’t happy with the experience. Thankfully, the original game is still an option, for anyone looking for the authentic original experience.
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas - The Definitive Edition is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
