The next-gen versions of Grand Theft Auto 5 have been out for over a month at this point, and while some fans have been disappointed about the lack of new gameplay features, others are enjoying the performance enhancements and stability improvements. It seems Rockstar Games isn’t done with Grand Theft Auto 5 on PS5 and Xbox Series X, however, as it has now released a new update that includes some changes specific to the new versions of the game.

Grand Theft Auto 5 update 1.56 is available to download now across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, though those on PS5 and Xbox Series X will find it especially interesting. After downloading the latest update, Grand Theft Auto 5 players will find an option to turn off motion blur, and they’ll also notice that transitioning from story mode to GTA Online is now quicker.

Besides these improvements, update 1.56 addresses a variety of bugs and other lingering issues with the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Grand Theft Auto 5. There are some platform-specific improvements as well, with Rockstar fixing issues with PS5 adaptive trigger feedback and the Xbox’s Quick Resume feature. When it comes to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game, update 1.56 mainly squashes bugs and improves stability.

It will be interesting to see if there are more substantial updates for Grand Theft Auto 5 down the line. There are rumors that there could be a big Grand Theft Auto Online expansion on the horizon that would include Liberty City, but nothing official to that effect has been announced at the time of this writing. Rockstar Games has not confirmed plans for any future GTA Online expansions, so fans will have to make due with what’s in the game right now.

With the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 on the horizon, one would think that the updates for Grand Theft Auto 5 will slow down, but that remains to be seen.
